  • After discussing your dream brows, we first clean and numb the area. The appropriate colour is chosen based on your natural brow colour.

Then using precise measurements, we design the brows using an adjustable makeup pencil to mimic the effect before committing. Only once you are fully satisfied with the pre-drawn design do we begin the treatment.

Single-use, sterile, disposable needles are used to manually etch small lines into the skin that resemble natural brow hair.

  • Microblading is an excellent solution for thinning eyebrows, and the perfect way to fill gaps, enhance fullness, fluffiness and definition. Ideal for dry and normal skin types.

  • Microblading appointments take between 1.5 to 2 hours.

Touch-up appointments should be between 45-60 minutes.

  • 1-3 Year Touch-up: $350

Frequently Asked Questions

  • It is strongly suggested to avoid intense exercise, caffeine and alcohol at least 24 hours prior to your appointment.

Cosmetic procedures such as chemical peels, Botox injections and laser treatments can affect Microblading results and such procedures should be avoided 4 weeks prior (and post) Microblading. Topical ointments containing Retin-A or glycolic acid should also not be used 3 weeks prior and post Microblading to ensure the best healed results possible.

No need to groom, shape, wax, thread, trim or shape your brows prior to your appointment. Tamsen will take care of that for you.

It is also recommended to bring a hat to your appointment to protect your brows from direct sunlight.

  • Generally, initial Microblading appointments take between 1.5 to 2 hours.

Touch-up appointments should be between 45-60 minutes.

  • Hardly! A topical anesthetic cream is applied to the skin before the procedure begins and a secondary anesthetic gel is applied to keep the are numb through the treatment.

As always, mild discomfort may occur but measures are always taken to ensure the process is as comfortable as possible.

  • A new set of Microbladed eyebrows takes two appointments to complete.

A 6-8 week follow-up appointment is needed to ensure that all the strokes are evenly saturated with pigment.

  • The healing process takes between 6 to 8 weeks, on average. Although everyone's experience is unique, the brows commonly appear very dark after the initial session but usually soften by around 20% once healed. A couple days after the initial appointment, most people see some light scabbing.

This is perfectly normal. The scabs will become dry and shed from the skin.

Once the scabs have naturally shed, the Microblading may appear very pale or grey in hue. However, around one week later the colour will return.

Typically the final healed results are revealed after 2-3 weeks.

  • Refrain from using skincare with active ingredients such as retinol, vitamin c, glycolic acid, other types of AHAs/BHAs, niacinamide and other brightening and/or anti-aging products on the brow area.

It is highly recommended to apply broad spectrum SPF 30 to the brow area to prevent premature pigment fading.

Additional touch-ups can be done every 1-3 years to keep the detailing crisp and boost the colour.

  • Natural fading occurs from external factors such as sun exposure and skincare regime, as well as internal factors that can gradually break down the pigments as your body metabolizes them.

Everyone can experience the fading process differently. You’ll be advised how to maintain your Microbladed brows based on your skin type, colouring, product use, lifestyle, etc.

  • Yes. However, if you have any concerns regarding allergies, a patch test can be made possible.

Patch tests consist of implanting a fine line of pigment into the hairline, minimum 6-8 days before the appointment.

  • It easily can be. Tamsen will just swap out a design pencil she uses with a vegan product if you so choose. Just mention it and the entire service will be considered vegan.

  • If you are wondering whether your previously tattooed brows can be corrected you must first submit a clear, well-lit, make-up free photo of your brows to hello@studiotamsenrae.com along with a brief description of the brow you are hoping to achieve.

It is important to consider a few things when applying for corrective work:

    • Not all previous work is eligible to be corrected immediately. In some instances laser tattoo removal may be required a minimum of 8 weeks before any new permanent make-up can be done. I.e.: if the pigment from the previous tattoo is still too bold and deeply implanted and/or the previous brow shape falls outside the newly desired brow shape you may be advised to seek laser tattoo removal first.

    • It is equally important to consider that, while we do our best to meet your personal brow goals, sometimes corrective work may require going outside the shape you desire to balance asymmetry and may also require deepening the colour of the brows.

    • More often than not, combo/powder brows are the best option for cover-ups. Depending on the condition of your previous tattoo, Microblading/Nano brows may not be a viable option with corrective work as the previous tattoo may overshadow any realistic hair strokes that would typically be achieved with Microblading and Nano.
